Creating and Implementing Internal Virtual Mentoring Programs

Internal mentoring programs can have a great impact on an organization and can be very rewarding. Improved employee engagement, a rich pipeline of talent, and increased production are just a few benefits of implementing an internal mentoring program. Though there are a number of rewards, the process can be costly and timely. For some organizations, the option for a robust, formal program is not feasible due to a lack of buy-in from stakeholders, limited funding, or not understanding how to implement a structured program. When this occurs, an informal program becomes the ideal situation. These programs also offer immense value to an organization. Join LaKisha C. Brooks for this engaging session, as she provides insight on internal mentoring programs and speaks to how to evaluate their value.

During this session, we attendees will:

  • Learn the 5-step process to implement a successful mentoring program
  • Identify the benefits of informal mentoring programs when formal programs are not an option Identify methods to evaluate the impact of mentoring programs
  • Understand how to convert a face to face mentoring program to a virtual one.

LaKisha C. Brooks, M.Sc., M.Ed, is the Chief Learning Officer at Brooks Enterprise and Consultants, Employee Development Manager at Ogletree Deakins,  and served as President-Elect for the Greater Atlanta Chapter of ATD from 2019-2020. LaKisha also served on the 2020 Mentoring and Coaching Advisory Board for HR.com and is a leading expert on creating and implementing internal/external people development programs. Her specialty is mentoring, leadership development, high potential, and coaching programs. 

An internationally recognized leadership expert, LaKisha, has been featured on ABC, FOX, CW, and NBC affiliates across the country, as well as, The Denver Post and The Miami Herald. She was also recognized by Atlanta Business Chronicle as a “Person on the Move.” LaKisha is also the 2018 Trainer Showdown winner for the ATD Central FL Chapter. She has over 12 years of sales and management consulting experience and 18 years of public speaking experience. She has worked with companies such as Rheem Manufacturing, Flexport, Walker’s Legacy, and the Sandy Springs Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few. She has also traveled the country training global clients in the areas of leadership, management, and sales as a consultant for Krauthammer USA.

LaKisha is also a DISC Certified Trainer and a trailblazer in organizational leadership and development authoring two books, Leadership’s Got Everything to Do With It: Women’s Guide to the Sustainable Leader and Organization and Learn, Lead and Leave a Legacy: Advancing Women to the Top!
