Leadership is not a model; it is a mindset. How individuals think about leadership provides organizations a strategic competitive advantage. This session introduces the postindustrial paradigm of leadership and discusses its relevance to creating motivating environments, nurturing collaborative relationships, anchoring change in culture, and building a 21st century organization of enlightened leaders. The session shares findings from empirical research conducted by the Institute for Postindustrial Leadership at the University of Indianapolis. This engaging and interactive presentation explains the unique work of the Institute, examines profound principles and contemporary concepts, and explores the 21st century paradigm of leadership.

Participants will:

• Understand the differences between the industrial and postindustrial leadership paradigms and objectively consider the critique of conventional leadership models.
• Understand the influence of internalized principles on thoughts and actions and the "thought-action" sequence. Explain the process of internalizing, integrating, and institutionalizing.
• Understand the principles of change and learn how the psychology of change and neuroscience can change the way we think about change and help us create change conscious cultures.
• Understand that "authenticity" is the state of knowing one's authentic self through mindful reflection, introspection, and challenging one's fundamental assumptions.  Learning that authenticity is the natural manifestation of authentic self-expression.
