Session Description

This session will use examples and data to demonstrate the losses of productivity, profitability, and pride when inclusive language and behaviors don't exist in the workplace. We will be exploring data points not always examined - employee referrals, participation in 401K offerings, committee participation, office/cubicle scans. We'll examine the current challenges of inclusion in the workplace -both internally and externally. We will examine the systemic barriers to inclusivity in the workplace and overcome the objections of leaders, board members and fellow co-workers.

Session Takeaways/Outcomes

As attendees to this program, members will:

• Discover why belonging should be a priority for your organization.

• What happens to an organization's people and outcomes when belonging is not a priority.

• Explore five things you can do immediately to evaluate your culture and begin to make the necessary changes to be more inclusive.

• Learn how to be an advocate for belonging by modeling inclusive behavior that inspires others to join you.

About the Facilitator

MeChelle is the Founder of EquiTable – an HR Equity Consulting Company. Prior to opening her own company, she served as the Chief Talent & Culture Officer for the United Way of Central Indiana where she co-developed and implemented the first full-scale DEI&B strategy leading to higher retention, improved talent acquisition, increased employee engagement and satisfaction. MeChelle has presented at Indiana SHRM, National SHRM, Training Magazine Top 125, ATD national and ATD-CIC conferences. MeChelle holds an MBA and is a certified HR professional – SPHR, and SHRM-SCP.  She draws from three decades of human resource and DEIB experience in non-for-profit management, healthcare, commercial real estate, and financial services to assist employees in reaching their full potential in an inclusive workplace and assisting organizations in reaching maximum productivity and profitability with the heart for the team.
